What does it really mean to serve as a Musical Director in worship? This breakout will explore the heart and craft of MD’ing in a local church context — from clearly defining the role, to building healthy rehearsals, to guiding a team in real time on Sunday morning. We’ll talk about practical rehearsal techniques, effective live directing and communication, and how to cultivate the kind of musical awareness that allows for spontaneous flexibility without creating confusion. Whether you’re currently serving as an MD, stepping into the role, or simply wanting to grow as a team leader, this session will offer encouragement, perspective, and practical insight to help you lead with clarity, confidence, and sensitivity to both your team and the Spirit.

Have you ever wondered about how your vocal cords work? Or why your voice cracks in certain spots? Dig into these questions and more at a breakout session dedicated to learning about your voice. Facilitated by worship leader and vocal coach Jacquelyn Morley, you’ll learn about the incredibly intricate anatomy of the voice, how to harness your breathing for easier singing, what makes a good vocal warm-up, and we may even challenge some preconceived notions you have about singing and the voice itself! Come ready to learn, discuss, and sing!

This workshop bridges the gap between classical training and band dynamics, showing you how to build out pads and play tastefully without overcrowding the mix. From small acoustic sets to full-team arrangements, you'll discover practical tips to lead better, train volunteers, and simplify your Sunday morning setup.

Drummers play a unique role in shaping the feel, flow, and dynamics of worship. In today’s worship environment, that role requires more than technical ability—it calls for awareness, restraint, spiritual sensitivity, and a heart to serve the room. This will be a practical and encouraging breakout for worship drummers of all ages, exploring the core essentials that matter most for modern worship drummers.

Scotty Kipfer | Composer & CCMA and CMAO Award-nominated singer/songwriter
This hands-on workshop is for musicians who want to level up their playing with greater flexibility and musical awareness. We’ll explore the Nashville Number System as a practical tool for understanding chord progressions, communicating with other musicians, and handling key or arrangement changes with ease. For acoustic guitar players, the workshop will also cover playing strategies, including effective capo use, choosing appropriate chord shapes for different applications, and adding movement within chord structures. The goal is to bring character, colour, consistency, and musical sensitivity to the playing - skills that will translate directly to smooth rehearsals and Sunday mornings. While this workshop will be especially valuable to acoustic guitar players, the concepts discussed will also benefit band leaders, other instrumentalists, and those in music mentorship. Attendees are welcome to bring their instruments to this workshop.

In this guitar rig breakout session we discuss the shift in using a Direct-In digital approach to guitar rigs for churches. We will explore tone tips and parameters that could be used across multiple digital rig platforms and effects pedals. Topics like gain structure, wet mix, global EQs, DSP, and "presets vs stock vs captures" will be discussed. There will also be an opportunity for a QA time.

We’ll explore the role of the bass in worship music, how to sit well in the mix, and practical tools that help your playing serve the song and the church. This breakout is an open forum for honest conversation, shared learning, and practical wisdom from those serving in sound, video, lighting, and production. We’ll talk about mixing and managing sound, building effective video and lighting setups, approaching ministry from a tech perspective, and making wise decisions when it comes to buying the right gear and equipment. Bring your questions, your experiences, and your challenges — this will be a collaborative space to learn from one another and sharpen our craft together. Whether you’re brand new to tech or have years of experience, you’re invited to pull up a chair and join the conversation.

Trevor Dick | Violinist, speaker, music missionary and founder/executive director of Flyingbow
A practical workshop where Trevor will unpack, from his years of experience as an educator, music/worship director and a violinist serving on worship teams, how to tastefully incorporate traditional solo instruments (such as flute, sax, trumpet and violin) into modern worship. What are some creative ideas and tips, both as a player and as a worship leader or music director? What should instrumentalists play and how can they best serve the music and the worship team? If you are an instrumentalist, bring your instrument for a “hands-on” opportunity to try out some things together.
